Why Community Matters: A Revolving Door
This is the second segment of the radio series called, Why Community Matters. In partnership with KYMN Radio, several community members tell their stories on how they’ve contributed to and been affected by Laura Baker.
There are many challenges related to staffing at LauraBaker, including limitations to being able to pay high wages and challenges related to direct support. Even more, government funding remains uncertain and directly impacts the quality of care people with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive.
Teri Knight from KYMN interviews Meghan Kuechenmeister, who has worked for several years in direct support in Laura Baker’s community services houses and also works for the Northfield School District in special education; and Kathy Davidson, who is Laura Baker’s program director for community services and has worked in direct support for many years.
