Why Community Matters: Home Sweet Home
This is the third segment of the radio series called, Why Community Matters. In partnership with KYMN Radio, several community members tell their stories on how they’ve contributed to and been affected by Laura Baker.
Laura Baker believes people with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve to have a choice in how they live in the community with others. One size does not fit all in terms of housing; some may only need support for a few hours a week, while others may require 24 hours per day of support. Not only are housing options a challenge, waiting lists for housing has tripled, according to the Case for Inclusion Report 2019.
Teri Knight from KYMN interviews Lee and Vicki Dilley, who have an adult son with autism living at home with them; and Randy and Lynn Miland, who have an adult daughter living at home with them.
