Congratulations! Local team places Fourth in Special Olympics Virtual National Championship
A local team that participated in the first-ever Special Olympics Virtual National Championship presented by ESPN made some history this week. In a partnership between the St. Olaf College Student Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB), Northfield Area Special Olympics and Laura Baker Services Association, the local team placed fourth out of 50 college sponsored teams across the country. The St. Olaf-sponsored team competed against a wide variety of academic institutions, including some large Division I Universities. The results were announced on April 25, 2021, during the Results Ceremony with top honors going to the team sponsored by the University of Florida. To compete, each team participated in a variety of online Zoom activities and created multiple videos, including a trick shot video, passing video and lip sync video.
